New Assistant Principal-Christine Lobitz

Christine Lobitz comes to the Simi Valley Unified School District with a lot of experience as an Assistant Principal. She served in the role for Culver City Unified School District, Ventura Unified School District, and, most recently, for the Moorpark Unified School District. Before that she taught middle school Science for nine years at the William S. Hart Union High School District in Santa Clarita. This is a second career for Ms. Lobitz, who once worked as an analyst for DreamWorks SKG, and managed the Mann Theaters in Simi Valley!

“I turned to something that matters, where you can feel and see the change you are creating,” she said. “(It’s the) family career—my grandfather, cousins and brother are all educators. I enjoyed working with kids and I love Biology, so I put the two together. I love getting to know students and what they like to do outside of school, while supporting them inside the school.

Every student I see being successful makes me smile, and every student’s measure of success is different. It’s when we get to know these students, and build relationships with them, that we can guide them towards their level of success.”

When she is not working, she loves to play basketball, watch movies and crime shows, listen to music and play with Watson, her dog (who is named after James Watson, the scientist).

She is very excited about being a Hillside Hawk, and looks forward to getting to know the students and families.

Visitor check in at our Main Office

Dear Families,

I would like to welcome all of our families back for the 2022-2023 school year. As a public school district, our primary goals are to provide our students with a world class education and help students to become the best potential version of themselves. Another primary goal is to make sure our campuses are safe environments for all of our students and staff members. Our District needs your help to accomplish these goals.

First, we would encourage our families to volunteer their time whenever possible. In order to maintain rich programs that meet students’ needs and interests, each of our District’s school sites will provide protocols on how to participate for volunteer opportunities, and they will share how to sign up for these opportunities.

Second, we are committed to maintaining the safety of our schools. As part of this commitment, we must know who is on our campus at all times. For this reason, our District’s policy will be that all visitors must check into the school office whenever they are on the school’s campus. In the next few months, we will adopt additional measures to best monitor the visitors coming on our school campuses.

Thank you, in advance, for your help in making this school year both academically engaging and physically safe for our students. Your support in volunteering, as possible, and allowing us to know who is coming on to our school campus is greatly appreciated.
