Principal's Message
With Spring Break coming to a close, we look ahead to returning to our 1/3/5 classes beginning Monday morning and are finalizing our plans to have all of our students safely on campus five days a week beginning April 19th.
For the week of April 12th - 15th, students are expected to be on campus the same cohort days they were before spring break, with one exception: we will not be providing any additional support for students on Friday.
Beginning the week of April 19th, all students will attend class five days a week from 7:55am to 12:40pm. While there is some additional information regarding the switch found in the newsletter, additional updates can be found on the Meridian High School website. We will also be communicating to students in Homeroom, giving them additional information and time to ask questions about the schedule change.
As was mentioned in Dr. Everett's announcement of the increase to in-person student learning on March 29th (https://www.smore.com/qg0tp) there will also be a formal update sent out on April 14th.
If you have further questions about the schedule change or other topics please contact me by email at dforbes@meridian.wednet.edu or by phone at 360-398-8111.

MHS Trojan - Culture Warrior - Bobblehead
During the past two years, MHS has been honoring staff members with the Culture Warrior bobblehead. A staff member is chosen that exemplifies a Culture Warrior and is given the Trojan Bobblehead to display until it is their turn to pass it on to a person of their choosing. The staff member passing along the bobblehead writes a statement why they believe the person receiving the bobblehead is a Culture Warrior. At the staff meeting last week, it was Mr. Craig's turn to pass along the bobblehead. Mr. Craig decided to give his bobblehead to the all the people that make up the different aspects of MHS. This is the statement that he shared:
I want to acknowledge all those people who make things happen. You know who you are and what you do, but it is nice to hear it.
For starters, the parents and guardians of fine students we have the privilege of working with every day. Thank you for trusting us with your children.
To the people in the bus garage and the maintenance department for getting kids to and from safely and keeping our campus in tip top shape. Our facilities are awesome and our drivers are some of the best in the state. Think: School bus to the Mt. Baker Ski Area: Enough said.
The cafeteria staff for preparing and delivering meals to the classroom. I miss the smells coming down the hallway reminding me of how hungry I am. Interesting Fact: Did you know that all the snacks the students don’t use need to be wiped down when they are returned. Think about that for a minute.
The custodial staff for asking us what we need and keeping our campus in tip top shape. Always excited to be greeted by Roberto and said goodbye to by Noel, Joe, or Gina’s husband.
The office staff, the counselors, the nurse, and the administrators: Thank you for navigating everything that comes through the doors and is passed down by the state and federal government, acting as a buffer and a filter so we can focus on what is essential.
The paraeducators: the glue that binds: Without you, none of this really works.
The tech team: I don’t get it, but I know it’s complicated. To think when I started at Meridian I was using an overhead projector and trying to figure out what student wanted to clean the used roll of plastic.
The teachers: What a pleasure to work with and learn from every one of you.
Meridian is not one person, it’s a community of people working together for a better future.
We are all warriors in some capacity.

Student Late Arrival and Early Pick Up
If you need to pick up your student early from school for an appointment or other reason, please call the MHS office at (360)398-8111. We will get your student for you, have them check out in the office, then send them out to your car.
Thank you for helping to keep our school safe!
RALF
RALF stands for Remote Attendance Learning Form and is required for all students to complete on their non-campus days. This would be the two days their cohort is assigned to be home and on Fridays.
Each teacher has a link to the RALF in their google classroom. We have also provided a link here to the google form. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfTR8ZCRJJKcx4dr5OirHXt_MMjq-7DfyMeuwMeZYsgarna0A/viewform .
Students need to fill out the form for each class they are currently taking. The form needs to be filled out before noon each day to count as being present in classes. If not completed by noon, the student is marked absent for that class period. Students do not need to fill one out for Homeroom as that class is only offered in person.
REMINDER ABOUT ATTENDANCE
Being present in class is vital to be successful in school. We want to encourage all of our students to be at school every day! If you are missing school, you are missing out on learning!
