SHISD Mid-Week Message
Weekly Superintendent's Message for Spring Hill ISD
Great Week of In-Service and Orientation
School districts are full of rituals. Last week we engaged in a few of those rituals such as back to school shopping, back to school nights, orientations, and meet the teacher. I love to see the excitement of children as they go through the halls and meet their new teacher, visit their old teacher, and see friends. The excitement is building as we work toward making this year a great year.
I hope everyone is getting settled in their classrooms and working toward being the premier school district is in the plans you make and the effort that you put into your work. It is important to remember that for the students in your class, you are the number one reason they will be successful this year! You have the power to make a difference in their lives. Be the role model and inspiration that drives them to greatness. Embrace your role in SHISD with pride and determination.
For the new employees and teachers of Spring Hill, I hope you are settled in your new home. Spring Hill is a special place and you are now part of the family.
Have a great year and know that all of us are #BetterInBlue!
- Andrea Benton (Edie Benton's daughter-in-law) got a good report after her surgery
- I need to call attention to one more member of the Tech Team, Laura Jordan, that I did not mention at convocation. She works tirelessly behind the scenes, keeping up with the SHISD website, setting up printer codes and troubleshooting at the HS, along with anything else we might ask of her. Oh yeah, she teaches classes too! ~ Steve Hardy
- A HUGE thank you to the school board for the increase in insurance contribution! ~ Michelle Smith
- Thank you Board and whoever else was behind the increase in insurance contribution. What a difference it makes!
SHISD Hosts Region 7's Back to School Conference
On August 14, 2018, we had our first opportunity to host a Back To School Conference presented by Region 7. In the words of the Region 7 conference coordinators, “This is the best conference we have sponsored all summer!”
I would like to thank the SHISD staff for being awesome participants. I received many positive comments regarding the professional learning sessions offered on the schedule. Teachers really enjoyed the conference being hosted at our beautiful high school facility. The Street Licious food truck, Kona Ice truck, and concession stand options for lunch were a big hit as well!
Many people contributed to the success of the Back To School Conference. I would like to send out a heartfelt “thank you” to all who contributed:
Tana Bray: Did an amazing job organizing details for the day ~ Always with a smile :)
Steve Hardy, Kyle Linthicum, Tony White, Karen Plumlee, and Michelle Malloy: Provided all tech needs and kept the classrooms and presenters connected and happy!
Toby Pleasant and the SHHS custodial staff: Prepared the high school facility ~ Everything looked fantastic!
Cathy Reed: Took terrific photos of the professional learning day ~ Looking good SHISD!
Rusty Robinett and SHHS teachers: Provided a welcoming environment and shared classrooms with presenters ~ So very helpful!
Holly Whittington and The Spill staff: Provided much appreciated coffees and snacks!
High School STUCO, Leaders’ Core, and National Honor Society sponsors and student workers: Helped presenters and participants navigate the high school ~ Many compliments were shared regarding our friendly, mannerly students!
All SHISD participants: Were professional, engaged, positive, and enthusiastic!
I hope to bring a Region 7 Back To School Conference to SHISD in August 2019.
Thank you again for sharing in a great day of professional learning!! #BetterInBlue
