WOODGROVE HIGH SCHOOL
April 1, 2022
From the Principal's Desk...
Greetings, Wolverines.
As we prepare for April, this time of year offers many activities with regard to our fine arts, sports, and club activities. I believe we have something scheduled nearly every night of this spring so I do encourage you to come out and support our Wolverines! Please see our calendar on our school webpage for announcements and updates regarding these events.
Congratulations to Woodgrove’s Girls’ Varsity Basketball team as the team finished their phenomenal season 29-1 and as the Virginia Division 5 runner-up! What an incredible season for the team and the program. Overall, the girls’ basketball teams (Freshman, JV, and Varsity) were 63-1 this past season!
I also do want to highlight our spring musical, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical, which will be performed on May 4, 5, 6 and 7 at 7 PM, and May 7 at 2 PM. Come enjoy the award-winning play – this will be the first time this play has been performed in an LCPS high school!
This year, prom will be held on Friday, April 22, from 8 PM to 12 AM at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriot. Students attending prom must attend school that day. Students, with parent or guardian permission, may request an early dismissal for that day no earlier than 1:26 PM.
In May, many students will be taking Advanced Placement (AP) and/or Standards of Learning (SOL) tests. Here is Woodgrove’s testing calendar: WHS - AP and SOL Testing Calendar Please review the calendar, and we ask for your help ensuring your daughter/son is well-rested and arrives on time to school for these testing sessions. Please note that morning AP tests begin at 8 AM.
Springtime is a very busy time for our students, especially our Seniors. If you have a son or daughter preparing to graduate, please see the information regarding upcoming events for Seniors. Also, please note that our graduation this year is on Friday, June 17, beginning at 8 AM. Seniors will need to be at school at 6:30 AM.
With regards to graduation, our wonderfully supportive PTSO will be hosting a Grad Celebration Breakfast for Seniors on Thursday, June 9, at Woodgrove. This breakfast is before the Senior Awards Ceremony and Senior Panoramic Picture. Currently, PTSO members are finalizing plans for the breakfast and they are seeking some additional support. If you can help provide for the breakfast, please contact PTSO President Joan Vogelsang atWoodgrovePTSOPresident@gmail.com Our seniors are working very hard to earn their diplomas and they’ve had to face many challenges during their four years in high school – we hope to make this an outstanding celebration for them!
Best wishes to everyone – thank you for your continued support!
