Notes from Mrs. Rodriguez
I have had many questions about Book-in-a-Bag...I rely on the parent volunteers to come in and take care of this for me because there is simply not enough time in the day. That being said, if we get busy or the parent volunteer is unable to come we don't get Book-in-a-Bag done that day. November must have been super busy because I had lots of days where we didn't get it done. Just know we are doing our best. If your child comes home with the wrong bag for the book, just read the book you get and I will count it on your child's Book-It. I will get November Book-It slips outs by the end of the week.
I sent home progress reports today. If you have any questions please let me know!

Can You Help Us Please?
*watch the green folder for important papers from the office and for homework. Take a few minutes each night to help your child complete the homework, making sure they write their *own* name. :)
*read to your child, at least 20 minutes each day. We have been sending home Book-In-A-Bag as often as we have volunteers in to check them out for us.
How can you help our classroom from home?
*we always have projects to prepare, whether it is organizing pieces, cutting paper, etc. I have a bag hanging right inside my door or projects that need to be done. Check it when you stop in, or send a note and I can put something in your child's bookbag.
*save Boxtops and Campbell's Labels for Education, put them in a bag and send them in to school!
*we love "good clean garbage" like:
~clean empty frosting containers
We have plenty of (need no more right now, thanks!)
~clean lids from water bottles, soda bottles and clean empty Crystal Light
Cold Weather Policy
As far as going outside when the weather gets colder...Our school policy is that we go outside if the temperature is above 20 degrees. If the difference between the temperature and the wind chill is more than 10 degrees difference we try to not go outside. Remember the weather is ever-changing and just because it is nice here in Danforth on the back playground doesn't mean the wind is not blowing at your house or place of work. With this in mind, please send your child with clothing appropriate to the weather...hats, gloves, boots, scarves, coats that close, etc. When we are bundling up we also work on those zipping skills needed on the K report card, and following directions. It takes time to bundle up, but we use it as a learning time.
