Principal's Notes

The end is near!!!! It is hard to believe that we are approaching the conclusion of another school year. It is true that time flies when you are having fun!! With the conclusion of the school year, I first want to thank all family members for all of your hard work with your little pirates! It takes a village to raise a child and we are honored to be part of your village as you raise your little pirates. I want to wish you the best of times this summer as you take a much deserved break from school. I also want to remind everyone of the importance of keeping skills polished during the summer break! Please take time to read with our child each day and allow them to read to you as well. Work on those math facts and take them to the grocery store with you so they can help you add, subtract, and multiply! Also, I would like to encourage you to journal all of your summer adventures with your little pirate to keep them writing and drawing pictures of summer fun! Just as this school year has gone by quickly, so will the summer and we look forward to seeing you in August!

Third Grade Adventures!!

The 3rd grade finished up their walking tours this week. We visited Pat & Becky Drouhard at the American Legion Park and got a tour of the log cabin. We toured the fire department. We met the mayor at Maxwell Park and had fun exploring. We visited the Civil War Monument at Glendale Cemetery, and finished at Heimlich Park where Lisa Brake met with us to discuss grant writing and how community members can work together for things like playgrounds and picnic tablets to help make their town better.

As families are gearing up for summer, and hopefully more time spent together, I hope you are able to take the opportunity to relax and enjoy some down time, both to recharge your body and mind alike.

That being said, a great deal of togetherness can bring about challenging times as well. The following resources offer some suggestions on ways to speak with your children when they are having a hard time, as well as when they might be testing your patience.

The final resource is for parents and caregivers, and simply reminds us of the benefits of stopping to take a deep breath when all else fails.
