Big picture

Monster Dash - October 25th

We held a very successful Shepard PTA Color Run last April and we were able to purchase all items on our teachers' wish lists! While items are still coming in, we want to thank all our parents and their networks of family and friends that made our goal possible.

After several meetings with the PTA Board and Shepard staff, we have decided to have the fun run aka the Monster Dash this October 25th instead of in the spring of 2019.

Visit the Monster Dash website for information on school wide incentives and other information about the event here:

Follow these 3 Simple Steps to Register Your Child!

  1. Simply login at
  2. Once registered, share via Facebook or other social media with just a few clicks
  3. Our goal is for all parents to send 10-15 emails to family/friends

If all students within their class register online by Friday October 12, the class will receive an extra 15 minutes of recess just for getting registered!

*Parents who share their student's fundraising page by sending 10 emails average raising $100.00. Post on Facebook and average another $50-75. Send 20 emails to increase and raise $200 + Facebook = $250 (on average).

Join the Shepard PTA!

If you haven't already, please join the PTA and support this year's sock hop, family picnic, field trips, and so much more!

Box Tops For Education

Who doesn't love some FREE MONEY for Shepard? With Box Tops For Education it's super easy!

This year, Shepard is participating in the Box Tops for Education™ program. Nicole Bowman is our Box Tops Coordinator - hooray! Clipping Box Tops is an easy way for you to help our school buy what it needs.

Box Tops are each worth 10¢, and they quickly add up to real cash for our school.

Shepard's earnings goal for 2018-2019 is $1,000.

  1. Look for pink Box Tops on products
  2. Clip them
  3. Send them to school.

For more information on the Box Tops for Education program, including a list of participating products and our school’s progress, visit or download the files below. Be sure to become a member to receive exclusive coupons and recipes and learn about extra ways for our school to earn.

Elementary PACE Referral Information 2018-2019

PACE is a gifted enrichment program for students who have demonstrated the need for advanced instruction. At the elementary level, PACE is a weekly pull out program in which students are removed from the general education classroom to work under the guidance of a gifted specialist. The time spent in the PACE program varies according to the grade level of the student.

Referred students in K-5 are assessed in the first semester to determine January placement. District-wide CogAT tests administered to first, third and fifth grade students are part of the data used to determine the need for gifted services. Kindergarten, second, and fourth grade will be administered the district approved PACE battery of assessments, including CogAT, upon referral. Students may be assessed for PACE only once each academic year.

Students may be referred for gifted services by teachers, parents, principals, counselors, or by the students themselves. Students are assessed at their home campus during the school day.

K – 5th Grade Referral Deadline is October 17, 2018.

For more detailed information about the PACE program, please refer to the link below. Online referral forms will be available at this site the first week of August. If you prefer a hard copy, please contact the campus gifted specialist.
