Hi Everyone!
April has many nationals. I would like to highlight this one.
April is National Month of Hope. It's all about celebrating the power of hope — the belief that things will work out, especially when circumstances seems otherwise. There is so many great trainings for parents that have been created. I have highlighted some below. I "hope" you find the information, training and webinars beneficial.
Announcements from TEA
UPDATED: Notice of Procedural Safeguards and Parent’s Guide to the ARD Process -In October of 2020, the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) required TEA to make several edits to these documents. A summary of changes for each document, as well as the updated documents, can be found HERE.

NEW RESOURCES
- The next webinar will be April 20, 2021 at 12:15 p.m. (English) and 1:30 p.m. (Spanish) both CST: Pathways to Successful Post-Secondary Schooling. Dr. Brenda L. Barrio, University of North Texas, and Sandye Cox, Region 10 Education Service Center, will outline crucial skills necessary for post-secondary success for students with disabilities and share resources for both students and their families. TEA’s COVID-19 Family Video Series These videos along with their companion documents provide information and tips for parents about the ARD Process, Complaints Process and At Home Learning. This video series is available in English and Spanish.

Texas Statewide Leadership for Autism Training
Texas Statewide Leadership for Autism Training (TSLAT) increases LEAs’ knowledge, understanding, and implementation of evidence-based practices that ensure the academic, functional, and behavioral needs of students with autism are met.

Transition in Texas
Texas Transition is an activity of the Student-Centered Transitions Network (SCTN) in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Parents, you are present in your child's life before, during, and after public schooling, whereas your child's teachers are only involved for a short time. Because of this, you have a very important role during your child’s transition process.

Save the Date! How the Deaf Action Center Serves the Family
Wednesday, June 2, 2021
6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Presented by Janira Benitez, Deaf Action Center, Dallas
This program will focus on local resources available for families, youth, and children through the Deaf Action Center in Dallas. Parents will learn about the Youth Education Transition Services (YETS) referral process and the important role parents play throughout this process. The Deaf Action Center is a resource for parents, youth, children, adults, and educators.

PACT Project-Partners Resource Network
Partners Resource Network (PRN) is a non-profit agency that operates the statewide network of federally funded Parent Training and Information Centers (PTI's). The PACT Project is one of the four federally funded PTI centers operated by PRN. We serve Texas parents of children and youth with disabilities ages 0-26 living in Education Service Center (ESC) Regions 7, 8, 10, and 11.
