Week ending Friday 13th July 2018
Hackfall Adventures
A Fond Farewell
Thank you to pupils, parents and friends, past and present, who came after school on Thursday to send their best wishes to Mr Dudman who leaves after fourteen years at Cathedral School. "It was a complete surprise but truly wonderful," said Mr Dudman, "I am really touched by the number of people who came and the very kind words of Mrs Jackson, spoken on behalf of parents. Thanks to all who came, it was good to catch up with so many of our school family, I am only sorry I didn't get to speak to each and every person."
Mr D was presented with a number of gifts including a leavers hoodie, just like the Year 6 children. " I especially love the hoodie," he said, "they even had my age printed on it."
Year Six Ted Talks
Year Two Fabric Designers
Year 2 have been answering the question 'Why go to Africa?' and their REAL project was to produce African fabric designs. In learning about the topic they discovered South African Ndebele patterns; they created their own pattern designs which were then professionally printed to make tea towels. At Ripon Market the children displayed and sold, their tea towels, everyone was impressed and they sold 50 tea towels! Just a few remain, so let us know if you'd like to purchase one of these limited edition prints!
Year Three Sandwich Makers
Year Five Planetarium
Year 5 converted their classroom into a planetarium to explain their learning about the solar system and space. An amazing array of models was on display, all torch lit, sparkling lights and Holst's The Planets produced an amazing atmosphere. It was obvious the children had learned a lot and had enjoyed their work.

Oscar's Summer Fun Holiday Club
Something for Everyone!
On Monday 23rd July, Oscar's will start the holiday club with the opportunity for the children to choose games, crafts and activities to enjoy with their friends. Mr Biggs will be here on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and as we know how much the children love his PE lessons, we're sure it will be fantastic. The first week ends with the chance to have fun in the sun (or chill inside if the weather breaks!).
In the second week, Amelia of Ripon Upstage Academy will be joining us with her team from Monday through to Wednesday. We are thrilled to be able to offer this outstanding opportunity exclusively to the children of our school.
After all the excitement and activity, we think everyone will appreciate the chance to choose games or crafts for the final two days of an action packed two weeks!
Emails have gone out with full details of how to book Oscar's in the summer holidays. Booking online is essential, so do it now to avoid disappointment - places are limited and filling fast! Use the link below with your email address as the username (click forgotten password if you are setting up your account for the first time).
