Tax credits for families
The Minnesota Department of Revenue offers two valuable tax benefits for parents who purchase school supplies for their K-12 students -- the K-12 Education Credit and Subtraction. These benefits can reduce parents’ taxes to increase their refund, but is only available for those who keep their receipts. Purchases for most school supplies, field trips and musical instruments for school band are eligible.
Most Minnesota parents qualify for the K-12 subtraction, which reduces their taxable income. Parents under certain income limits may also qualify for the K-12 credit, which can refund up to 75% of their costs – even for parents who don’t owe any taxes. Visit the Minnesota Revenue website for details.
New payment system for meals
The Nutrition Services Department is using a new system for meal accounts this school year called Titan Family Solutions, which has replaced PayPams. All existing account balances have been transferred to Titan automatically, but families need to create an account on the new platform in order to continue adding funds.
Click here to create an account with Titan and add money to your child’s meal account. Instructions are available here.
Reminder: Meals are no longer free for this school year. Find meal prices here.
Some families may qualify for Educational Benefits, which includes free or reduced-price meals. Click here to apply.

Rock the School House: September 24
The Mounds View Schools Education Foundation is happy to announce the 10th anniversary of Rock the School House - the Foundation's flagship fundraising event.
This event, synonymous with fun, is also the Foundation’s primary source of revenue - the more money we raise, the more our students benefit! The MVSEF’s support has funded initiatives ranging from the kindergarten centers' libraries all the way to post-secondary support of the Equity Promise Scholarship Program.
It promises to be a memorable evening filled with great food and drink, and a few special activities have been added in celebration of our 10th year. For those who are hoping for some of the best from the past you won’t be disappointed as you will again be able to participate in the Diffley Team “Wine & Spirits Toss,” silent and live auctions and fund our mission program. Buy your ticket today!
Shorter email addresses for staff
There is now a shorter email option to reach our employees. You can send email messages to our staff members by using the new alias firstname.lastname@MVPschools.org. Students can also be reached using the @MVPschools.org alias. This change accompanies the shorter URL option of MVPschools.org to access the District website.
If you forget to use the shorter alias, that’s okay. Messages sent to the @moundviewschools.org address will still be delivered, and outgoing emails from staff will still carry the longer address. Both addresses will work successfully.
