Look what's going on in GT

Kindergarten- We are discussing our critical thinking skills and putting our convergent thinking skills to work. Each week we introduce a new Primary Thinking Skill by reading a story that allows the kids to interact with several characters. I hope you have heard about Dudley the Detective and Sybil the Scientist and all the fun activities we have been working on.

1st Grade- We have been studying about inventors and inventions. We've discussed the importance of having a patent for each invention, a prototype and how it takes a lot brainstorming and patience to become an inventor. We began this process by trying to invent something that would make life easier. Wait to you see all the great ideas they have!

2nd Grade- Students are working on a project called "Party Planning". This project includes planning the budget, theme, invitations, time, date, place, and specific details. We are finding out that our budget of $150 does not go quite as far as we initially thought! Students will also be creating a game to play at the party.

3rd Grade- Student teams researched the Alaskan Pipeline and used the information to debate if the pipeline was something they would have voted for. They presented their evidence to the class and compared the similarities and differences within the different teams. We also had the opportunity to practice our coding skills on the Spheros.

4th Grade- In fourth grade we are working on a project called " Road Trip Across the U.S" . This project consists of visiting four landmarks or historical sites as they travel across the United States. Each student was given a budget and must keep track of miles traveled, gas mileage, food, lodging, and other expenses for the two-week trip. Each student had to keep track of a spreadsheet with their travel expenses and budget their money as they plan this road trip. The final project will consist of a slideshow and presentation of their journey.
