Cedar Reader Remote Learning
Week of April 20, 2020
Message From the Principal
This week is week 2 of Phase 3 Remote Learning. I hope you are all safe and well.
We learned a lot in week 1:
- efficient communication matters to families
- clarity of instruction is necessary
- every remote learner has different needs
- teaching remotely if very different that traditional teaching
- we make mistakes, and then we make improvements
You will continue to get a Cedar Reader sent to you by 9:00 AM every Monday, but we've made some changes to how you and your student will access lessons. Instead of being taken to a spreadsheet with many links, every Cedar Park teacher has built a home course in Canvas. So, you will see only ONE button below; click on that button to access Canvas. The course homepage for some teachers will link you to Google Classroom, but most of our teachers are using Canvas as their complete course platform. I hope this helps streamline things even more.
We are also beginning to take attendance this week. Students will be counted as attending through participation in any number of activities.
- loads a collaboration to view/edit the document
- joins a web conference
- posts a new comment to a discussion or an announcement
- submits a quiz
- starts taking a quiz
- submits an assignment
- creates a wiki page
- attends office hours
- submits work/assignments
Attendance will be reported to administration on a weekly basis. Also, please use the following contacts for questions:
Technology questions: shd@beaverton.k12.or.us
Questions about Canvas: Linda_Peterson@beaverton.k12.or.us
Questions about specific classes: Contact your student's teacher directly

I hope you have a great week, and all your family is safe and well.
Best,
Dr. Anderson
