Battle of Bull Run/Manassas
The Battle of Bull Run/Manassas was the first major battle of the Civil War. It was fought on July 21, 1861, near Manassas, Virginia. Union casualties were 460 killed, 1,124 wounded, and 1,312 missing or captured. Confederate casualties were 387 killed, 1,582 wounded, and 13 missing
Battle of Hampton Roads
During the Battle of Hampton Road, there were two ironclad warships. The ironclad warships were the first to battle against one another. The battle that pitted the Virginia against wooden US Naval vessels was the worst defeat in the history of the United States Navy. That was until the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
Battle of Shiloh
The Battle of Shiloh was fought April 6 to 7, 1862, in the Western Theater of Southwestern Tennessee. This battle was considered to be one of the major early battles to be witnessed in the Civil War.
Battle of Seven Pines
Took place on May 31 until June 1, 1862. In all of the soldiers that were battling, there were a total of 84,000 men. The battle of Seven Pines was considered one of the bloodiest battles in just two days. Commander Joseph Johnston was seriously wounded and a day later the job of commander was given to Robert E. Lee.
Battle of Gaines' Mill
The Battle of Gaines' Mill was fought on. This battle was the first major battle that Robert E. Lee won in the Civil War. By Late June, Gaines' Mill was called the second bloodiest battle of the Civil War.
Second Battle of Bull Run
The Second Battle of Bull Run was fought on August 28-30, 1862 during the Civil War. It was a lot bigger in scale and casualties than the First Battle of Bull Run.
Battle of Atlanta
The Battle of Atlanta was fought on July 22, 1864. It was fought in Fulton County. It involved a battle over supply and rail facilities and important supply areas for the entire Atlanta region.
