What's Happening in ELAR/ Social Studies
In Reading, we will analyze non-fiction, including the use of text features and summarization of non-fiction. Students will apply their knowledge of non-fiction text features when writing the final copy of their "Encounter With a Critter" story. Students will continue to read their historical fiction books and write responses to their reading.
In Social Studies, we will learn about the events leading up to the American Revolution. Students will work in groups to begin to write a play to show their knowledge of the events leading up to the American Revolution.
Homework is due Friday, October 30th.
What's Happening in Math/ Science
In math, we will be learning how to multiply decimals using area models. This is a very abstract/different way to multiply decimals, so we will continue to spiral this concept in the coming weeks. We will also be ending the week preparing to begin our fraction unit. We will be learning our divisibility rules and identifying prime and composite numbers. There will be homework and it will be due Monday, November 2nd. An additional copy is available for download below.
In Science, we will be wrapping up our Force and Mechanical Energy ELM. Then by the end of the week, we will be launching our new ELM-ENERGY! We will be exploring nonrenewable and renewable/alternative energy resources for the next few weeks.
