Caught Being the One

As you know, this year's theme is "Be the One." Students are encouraged to be the one in their families, in life, and with each other. Recently, several students were recognized as "Caught Being the One." We are proud of these recipients and look forward to students always being the one for others, even if they are not formally recognized.

Fundraiser Updates and Winners

Thank you for your help with our recent candy bar fundraiser. We made over $4,300.00! That amount will go a long way in paying our copier costs. There are still a few students who have not turned in money. Please take care of this matter as soon as possible. Congratulations to Mrs. Long's homeroom. They were the top selling homeroom. The individual winner will be announced on Monday. We appreciate your support!

Visit from Holocaust Survivor

On Monday, November 5, Mrs. Marian Lazan, Holocaust survivor and author of Four Perfect Pebbles, visited our school. She shared her inspirational story with our student body. Highlights from her message included the following:

  • We must respect the differences of others and build bridges.
  • Check in with your moms and dads daily.
  • Do not follow a leader without knowing his/her intentions.
  • Do not judge.
  • Respect the rights of others.
  • Be kind, respectful, and good to one another. These are the basis for peace.
  • No one is spared adversity and hardships. With faith and hope, we can persevere.
  • Do not take education for granted.
  • Do not embarrass your friends.
  • Do not take freedom for granted.

Israel Trip Highlights with Photo Gallery

Dr. Holtcamp, Ms. Roberts, and Mr. Smith (WES Principal) recently accompanied three students on a trip to Israel. While there, they visit Yad Vashem and met the author of I Have Lived a Thousand Years: Growing Up in the Holocaust, Livia Bitton-Jackson.

5th Grade Field Trip

Our fifth grade students recently visited UTC on a field trip where they participated in the College Knowledge program. Some of the fun activities included:
  • Introductory activities to 3-D printing and computer coding at the Challenger Center.

  • The opportunity to tour a UTC model residence hall.

  • Activities with UTC student-athletes and interaction with UTC students.

  • A kid-friendly admissions presentation (what it takes to get to and succeed in college)

25% Goal AR Trip

Congratulations to all students who met with 25% AR goal for the year. They worked hard and earned a trip to Foster Falls. Not only was the scenery beautiful, but it gave students a chance to enjoy physical activity. Looking forward to our 50% Reward Trip. Happy Reading!
