Friday Flyer for Room 33
December 20, 2013
What are we learning about in 3rd Grade?
In Reader’s Workshop, students will define and determine the point of view and distinguish the reader's point of view from that of the narrator or those of the characters. In Writer’s Workshop, students are reading and writing opinion/commentary pieces about a variety of topics. They are choosing a favorite commentary piece to take through the entire writing process.
Math
Students are working on math skills in Unit 4 which focuses on the categories and attributes of shapes, perimeter, and area. We will also continue to work on rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100, as well as addition and subtraction with regrouping. Students are also practicing multiplication facts and taking timed tests several times a week. Make sure to have your child practice multiplication facts at home as well.
Science/Social Studies
We will begin studying the interactions between matter and energy next in Science.

- I will be gone on Friday, January 10. Mrs. Mreen will be in our classroom.
