Arrival and Dismissal Safety
Thanks to our community for following our arrival and dismissal procedures! We certainly couldn't build on our success daily without everyone's cooperation. For your convenience we've included the 2-minute video that highlights our procedures and a "Quick Tips" document for easy reference. Please be sure that they are followed each day.
For safety, transportation modes are identified in our data base for each student. It's come to our attention that some families are parking in the school lot and walking up for dismissal to the car rider area. This creates a potentially unsafe and unsecure scenario. For safety and efficiency reasons, we cannot accommodate walk ups in our "Car Rider Zone". Car riders will not be released as "walkers". "Walkers" are defined as students who live within one mile of our school and do not qualify for bus transportation services.
We kindly ask that if you are picking your child up from school as a car rider, please enter our car rider line in your vehicle and proceed through our carpool loop in order accordingly.
Thanks for your partnership in keeping our students safe.
Most Sincerely,
Steve Coco

Letter from the school counselor - Mr. Jason Rubin
Greetings Mays Chapel Community,
Thanks to everyone for your help and total engagement in ensuring that we've gotten off to a smooth start this school year. Please know that we value your partnership and want to continue that connection with you all year. An important part of that partnership includes volunteering. In order to volunteer in any capacity in a BCPS school that involves interaction with students, BCPS policy requires the completion of a volunteer application and training each year. This year there are two trainings to complete, the Volunteer Orientation AND the Coronavirus Prevention Principles training. All training information is available on-line. The directions for training completion and the application are attached for your convenience at this link:
https://cos.bcps.org/departments/communications/family_and_community_engagement/b_c_p_s_volunteers
If you are unable to access the on-line application and/or training access is available at school and your local libraries. Hard copies of this information will also be available upon request in the office and at Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, September 14th (PreK-2) and Tuesday, September 21st (3rd-5th grade) from 6-7:30pm. As a reminder, volunteers need to be approved at least 7 days before starting their volunteer assignment this includes field trips. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our volunteer coordinator, Mr. Jason Rubin, School Counselor at jrubin@bcps.org or 443.809.9847.
Sincerely,
Jason Rubin
