Pumpkin Math

On Friday, October 30th we will be doing Pumpkin Math! We will use pumpkins to do many different math activities! We will need donations of pumpkins and volunteers for this fun learning activity. It will take place in our classroom from 10:45-11:45. Please let me know if you are interested in donating a pumpkin or volunteering! Thank you!

Fall Fundraiser

Information for the Fall Fundraiser has been sent home. This is a "no sell" fundraiser and all donations will go directly to the school! Liger XC Mile

The 2015 Liger XC Mile will take place on Thursday, October 15th at Hamilton Southeastern High School. The race/walk is for ALL K-6th grade students in the Hamilton Southeastern School District. Please view the attached form for more information about this event!

Our next Words Their Way spelling test will be Wednesday, October 21st. Words will go home on Monday, October 12th.

Monday: Read a book for 20 minutes.

Tuesday: Study Math Fluency, flash cards, xtramath, moby max

Wednesday: Read a book for 20 minutes.

Thursday: Study Math Fluency, flash cards, xtramath, moby max

Our next class library checkout day will be Tuesday, October 13th, but remember, your child may bring his/her books back at anytime. We will find a time for him/her to visit the library individually to get new books!

We Are Learning...


We are diving deeper into our Realistic Fiction texts! We will continue our discussion of the plot of a story. Students will distinguish the sequence of major events in a story.


We are busy writing our Realistic Fiction pieces! Many students are publishing their work and writing series of books about the same realistic character! We look forward to sharing some of our writing at our upcoming conferences!


Next week our class will be working on strategies for perimeter. Then we will be moving into subtraction!


We will continue our unit on Sun and Moon! We will continue our moon journal. We will continue our study and we will be generating questions to ask NASA.
