CKE Monday Notes
"If It's to Be, It's Up to Me!"
Winter Ball - Family Dance for Heroes Campaign
Coming up on Friday January 27th from 5:00-7:00 is our annual Winter Ball. There is a duty sign-up sheet posted in the front office. This event is one that our students and their families always enjoy and it is great to see everyone so dressed up and having fun! We usually have a great turnout and raise some money for a great cause!
PLC Meetings this Week
The red team PLC will meet today after school in our newly designated Design Room on the 1st grade hall (C18 - formerly Mrs. Frost's classroom). This is an additional space where we can hold meetings at school. In this month's PLC meetings we will be analyzing student work. Please be sure and bring some paper and something to write with when you come. The yellow team PLC will meet on Thursday (1/19) with Jill in the media center. I have included a brief video from Edutopia regarding how to utilize feedback to improve instruction. Please take a few minutes to view the video prior to your PLC meeting this month.
Kids on the Block
This Thursday we will have the Family Support Council here to perform their annual Kids on the Block program in the media center. 3rd grade will attend the program at 9:00 and 4th grade will attend at 10:00. Mrs. Hensley will contact grade levels regarding their media time on that day during these times.
STEM Night
Coming up on Tuesday February 7th, the Creative Discovery Museum will be here to set up STEM activities throughout the school for our students and families. Even though this is being hosted by the CDM, we still need all teachers participating in this family event. This is a time too for us to be accessible to parents who have any questions and/or concerns about their child and school. Remember, we are building relationships with our students and most of them love to see their teachers outside of the school day!
Beard Contest - Heroes Against Child Abuse
Remember the grade level with the greatest gains in benchmarks will do the honors of shaving my beard! Looks like I'm losing the beard for sure. One of our grandmothers who always supports me losing the beard, has donated approximately $150 already! You wouldn't think that this raises any money but every year it does!! In addition, to the grade level with the greatest gains attending the event, we are going to open it up to other students at Coker who would like to attend for $1. Once we have the date set we will let everyone know. More than likely the event will be held on a Friday afternoon around 2:00.

Common Planning - 1st & 3rd Weeks of the Month
Common planning meetings will be scheduled for every first and third week of the month and this Thursday will be our second meeting for January. With the exception of 3rd and 5th grades, grade levels please report to Adrian's classroom during your planning period. Coverage has already been arranged. Thanks Mrs. Jarvis! 3rd and 5th grades will be meeting with Kelli Thomas to enter student information into the Reading Assistant program of Fast Forward. These teachers please be sure and bring your student's birth dates with you when you go to the FFWD lab. See everyone on Thursday!

Non-Classroom Intervention
Non-classroom intervention will begin on Thursday (1/19) morning from 7:30-8:00. For those scheduled to report to certain grade levels please touch base with the teachers in that grade level prior to intervention beginning on Thursday morning. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP WITH THIS PROJECT!!
