December 2018
Hello December! Ready or not, winter and the holidays are here upon us. One of our favorite moments in an elementary school is when children rush to the window to see the first flakes flutter from the sky. This happened a littler earlier than expected this year, yet it was still just as magical.
A special thank you to our PTSA for organizing the holiday event! It was heartwarming to see so many students and families connecting and sharing some time together. We are fortunate to have so many caring families who volunteer their time to create special memories for our children. Thank you!
If you have recently visited Klem South, you may have have noticed that we have implemented a new procedure with our nurse's office. In order to ensure the safety and privacy of our KS students, we are now asking parents to check in with our secretarial staff when dropping off items for the nurse or when picking up a sick child. Tracy Cole will come and meet you in the main office, or items that require little explanation can be left with the secretaries. If you need to speak the nurse directly, the secretaries will call Tracy and she will come to the office to greet you. We appreciate your attention to this change.
During this busy time of year, please do not forget to take some time for each other. Share a special book with your child(ren) or schedule a game night with cocoa and treats. Sometimes the best memories do not involve expensive gifts or extensive planning.
Your children are special gifts and we appreciate you sharing them us!
All the best,
Martha End and Dr. MacAdam

NYS requires all students in grades K, 1, 3 & 5 to have a physical exam for the 2018-2019 school year. If you haven’t done so already, please fax a copy to 217-4754. Please make sure it is dated 09/01/17 or later to be acceptable.
Flu and cold season is upon us! Please talk to your child about the importance of good hand washing and covering their mouths when coughing so we can all stay healthy at Klem South! Children with a fever of 100.5 will be sent home from school and must remain fever free for 24 hours (without medication treatment).
Thank You.
