Romeo & Juliet
Friar Laurence is responsible
Friar Laurence is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. The reasoning for this is because Friar Laurence was the one who made them husband and wife. “Come, come with me, and we will make short work; For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone Till holy church incorporate two in one.” (Act: 2 Scene: VI). This is significant to my quote because it is showing how Friar Laurence contributed to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. The other reasoning is because Friar Laurence also wanted Juliet to fake her death so Romeo would come back and she wouldn’t have to marry Paris “If, rather than to marry County Paris, Thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself, Then is it likely thou wilt undertake A thing like death to chide away this shame…”(Act: IV Scene: I). This quote shows that Friar Laurence did what he could to keep Romeo and Juliet and not have her marry Paris. So Juliet stayed with romeo and when romeo came back to see if she was actually dead, and when he went to the tomb he saw her laying there supposedly dead. Therefore romeo poisoned himself because he thought Juliet was dead.
