A Note From the Principal
The Thanksgiving Feasts were another highlight. It was lovely to see so many of you here. Ms. Walling shared a photo of she and her dad at her own school Thanksgiving Feast many years ago. She shared that she has fond memories of those meals together. I hope you were able to create a similar memory with your child this week.
One more day before we let out for Thanksgiving Break. I wish you all a happy holiday week and safe travels if you are leaving town.
Warmly,
Stephanie Haga

Student Recognitions at WCES
PAWS Tickets- PAWS tickets are a part of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) program. They are tickets handed out by staff members to show students appreciation for following rules and procedures and for going above and beyond to help out. Students put their tickets in a bucket at the front office for weekly prize drawings.
PAWS Winners-Each week we draw winners from our PAWS ticket jars. Students are selected at random and get to come to the office and select an item from our school prize cart.
Medal Winners-Each month homeroom students select one student from their class to be the monthly medal winner. These students are chosen for their behavior and for showing consistently that they are respectful, responsible and ready to learn. Medal winners are celebrated in a grade level ceremony where their teachers share with the entire grade, the reason the student was selected. Student winner recieve a medal to wear and a certificate with their name on it is placed outside the classroom door for the month for all to see.
Creating Character-Each month we select a character word to focus on. At the end of the month, each homeroom teacher chooses one student from their class who best demonstrates the word of the month to represent the class as the Creating Character Award Winner. Our school counselor heads up this program and she works with the students to spread kindness throughout the building. Students are celebrated with a 30 min. ceremony which parents are invited to attend.
Principals' Pride-Principals' Pride winners are selected by our Specials teachers. This group of teachers works all students and has a great perspective on the entire student body. Each month they select 1 student per grade level who has stood out for their positive behavior and choices. Principals' Pride award winners are recognized in the newsletter, they receive a positive parent phone call, and get to participate in a breakfast with the principal.
Students are eligible to receive multiple awards throughout the year. We do try and spread out our winners in order to recognize as many of our amazing students as possible.
