What do Dietary Guidelines do for Americans?

- Anything that would hurt yiur health is a health risk

-A special course of food to yourself for medical reasons, or to lose weight is a Diet

Getting enough nutrients within your calorie needs.

- Age, Sex, Metabolism, Activity Level

-Connection between Calories with nutrients is Nutrients dense food.

How to mantain healthy weight.

-Risk factor is the likelihood to develop disease or injury

-Heart disease is one of the main diseases with too much body fat

-Muscle loss could happen for being underweight

-Lots of Physical exercise, Muscle workouts burn more calories and coud turn fat into muscle

Suggestions for being physically active every day.

-Active living helps you to be fit and healthy

-An average teen should get 60 minutes or more a day of physical activity

-Aaerobic activity, Strengthening workout

Importance of whole grains, fruits, veggies, and milk.

-These foods have nutrients, Calcium and carbs

-Milk will help you with calcium wich is stronger bones and pasta has carbs or natural energy

-A cup of milk with breakfest or have a planned diet

How to limit fats and cholesterol

-Saturated fats and Margarine

-Heart Disease can be caused by high cholesterol

-Work out what you put in

Be choosy about carbs,

-Apples have alot of natural sugars

-Cookies have alot of added sugar

-Too much sugar could raise cholesterol

Why reduce sodium and increase potassium?

-Sodium helps lower cholesterol

-Strokes can happen if to much sodium is consumed

-Proper level of liquid is potassium

Avoid Alcohol

- Teens die because of drinking and driving

-Disease can come from alot of alcohol

-Brain cells are destroyed

Why is food safety an important part of dietry guidelines?

If you eat very bad foods, then the guideline is broken and it could effect you very badly.
