Maker Play Dates

Join us for some Hands-on Learning Fun for Teachers!

The Maker Movement is sweeping the world and Franklin Heights is joining the fun! Maker spaces provide outlets for learners to engage in hands-on creating and exploring, both independently and collaboratively, in guided and exploratory ways. During these activities, learners have the opportunity to learn through discovery and develop resiliency and problem-solving skills, as they work through trials and errors.

Franklin Heights ERC will be home to our very own Maker Space/Innovation Zone, including a 3d printer, 3d pens, makey makeys, arduinos, legos, and many other materials that will inspire and excite the innovative spirit in our students (and teachers!!)

This summer, we are hosting a few "Maker Play Dates" for any interested teachers to come and explore some of our new toys -- ur, I mean "tools"! It will be totally laid-back and move at your own pace.

"Making is fundamental to what it means to be human. We must make, create, and express ourselves to feel whole. There is something unique about making physical things. Things we make are like little pieces of us and seem to embody portions of our soul." - from The Maker Movement Manifesto by Mark Hatch
