Maria Sharapova:
All you need to know about the stellar athlete is right here
Maria Sharapova when asked about what it's like to be back in Sochi for the Olympics:
"I hit my first tennis ball on this court when I was 4 years old, so it definitely holds a special place in my heart"
Stuff you need to know:
Maria Sharapova was born in Nyagan, Russia, in April 19, 1987. She is originally (obviously) from Russia, and started her professional career at the age of 14 with the help of her local friends. At one point, she even reopened a tennis court which had been significant to her at one point and spoke passionately about how she started her career. Her early life means quite a lot to her. In the Summer 2012 Olympic Games, she had her Olympic debut. Her highest point was winning a few silver medals during the Olympics, and had lost to fellow star Serena Williams. Her beauty and appeal have gotten large companies like Nike and Tiffany and Co to sponsor her, however, which is convenient in terms of her career and popularity. The spotlight is going to be on her as Sochi is brought to the world's attention, and she is excited to show the world what she's made of.
Happy to be doing the thing she loves!
