LEO MARTINEZ NAMED EAST VALLEY YOUTH OF THE YEAR
Leo Martinez was awarded a $20,000 scholarship from the Boys & Girls Clubs for being East Valley’s Youth of the Year. Leo was recognized for his leadership, service, academic excellence, and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle. Leo will compete for the state title in April, and if he wins, he will go on to regionals and then nationals. View the Youth of the Year flyer for more info on Leo and his award. 2017 COCA-COLA SCHOLAR
Heba Shiban, Chandler High School Senior, was awarded the prestigious 2017 Coca Cola Scholarship. Out of 87,000 applicants, only 150 students were chosen nationally to be given a $20,000 scholarship to a college of their choice and an all-expense paid trip to the Coca Cola Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. This scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors who have exhibited outstanding leadership and service qualities in their schools and communities. Congrats, Heba!

INTO THE WOODS
The CHS Theatre Department’s Into the Woods was a great hit! Mark Munoz, Timara Crichlow, Ashby Gentry, Hailey Palmer, Casey Likes, Chloe Martin, Amory Campbell, and the rest of the cast did an amazing job with Stephen Sondheim’s intricate score, and the set and costume designs were top notch. Thanks to Ms. Stephanie Likes, Theatre Director, and all of the students and parents involved in this very professional production. Special thanks to Andru Moeller, CHS Junior, for Music Direction. Well done, Wolves!
IB MYP PERSONAL PROJECT SHOWCASE
On Tuesday, March 7th, sixty-five 10th grade IB students showcased their IB MYP Personal Projects in the CCA. Students were available to answer questions about their projects and were recognized for completing the IB Middle Years Program.

MATH TEAMS COMPETITON
CHS mathletes competed in the ASU Poly TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science) contest on March 8th. Based on multiple choice test scores, CHS’s Team C is currently in third place. Building the robotic arm and the 1000 word essay are yet to be scored. State rankings will come out in April. Kudos to the following students and their sponsor, Miss Katie Rennell, for representing CHS so well!

Seniors, if you have not already purchased your Cap and Gown for graduation, orders must be placed with Jostens before April 1st. TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS DUE THIS WEDNESDAY
It is time to formally recognize great teachers by nominating them for the 2017 CHS Teacher of the Year (TOY) Award!
If you would like to recognize a staff member who does not meet all of the attached criteria, please do so. Although he/she will not be in the running for AEF Teacher of the Year, CHS wants to acknowledge him/her.
