Counselor's Corner
Hello LVES Families! We have wrapped up our guidance lessons for the school year, and this month we learned what it means to show and have Gratitude. Children learn respect and how to show appreciation to others from parents, as parents are their first role models. Show your child the importance of saying thank you to those that are serving you, helping you, or when you notice someone’s effort to do something. When children understand what it means to be grateful for what they have, it can have a positive effect on their attitude and perspective. At home, think about starting a gratitude journal with your child. Get a blank notebook (I have many--if you’d like for me to send one home with your child, let me know!) and work together to design it. Each night, or as often as possible, spend time together adding the things you are thankful for. “Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you'll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you'll find that you have more of it.” ~Ralph Marston
