News and Updates from FSMA
Good Beginnings Deserve Good Endings
This is the theme we are using to plan for the remainder of the school year. Teachers have taken such care to kick off the year right and we want to make sure we end it in the same way. While it is still a ways off, we do want you to be able to prepare for school-wide events that will be coming up over the next month and a half. End-of-year calendars will be coming home so that you can get all of the important dates on your radar and plan accordingly.
But, don't worry... we are just making plans now, classrooms are still in full work mode and will be through the end of the year!
Bank at School
Thanks to Midcoast Bank, FSMA is now one of 80 schools in the United States to offer this program. The bank will be open every Thursday and children can make a deposit of any amount (yes, we even had penny counting happening). Saving money is a great habit for children and when started young, can grow into large amounts over time.
And, if you didn't hear about it already, ask your child about Wasteful Wendy or Prudent Paul/Penny. They were members of a skit our staff performed about the importance of saving.
Odyssey Assembly
On Friday, all of our Odyssey of the Mind teams performed for their peers. As groups shared their hard work, it was evident that much cooperation, creativity and problem-solving went into each team's final product. You could see the pride teams exuded as their classmates acknowledged their awesome performances!
A special thank you to our Odyssey of the Mind School Coordinator, Katie McCormick and to all of the coaches - this program would not exist without you and we appreciate the time and energy you put into making this a meaningful experience for our students!
FSMA Adult Celebration
Over the next few weeks we will be helping the children celebrate the current year and prepare for next year. But, it is important that the adults in our community get a chance to come together and celebrate as well. We have a common connection in the "leap" we made to a new school. May 1st will be a chance for us to celebrate and reflect on the first year of FSMA.
May 1st from 7 - 10 p.m. (adults only)
Tickets forms will come home next week
Help Wanted:
At FSMA, there are always a variety of ways for families to help out. Volunteering doesn't always mean you have to be at school or give lots of hours and every little bit helps!
Over the next few weeks, you will see lots of ways to help as we are busy with our Book Fair, Staff Appreciation Week, Founding Families Adult Celebration and more. We are hopeful that each family will find at least one way that works for them. To get you started, here are signup geniuses for some of the upcoming events.
