Boosterthon
Boosterthon is back, and it is raising the bar this year! As you know, MDE supports math/science night, Writers in the Schools (WITS), police officers at the start of school and dismissal, our library, and many other activities in our school. Boosterthon will take the money raised, a goal of $30,000, and put it to these endeavors. Our class is working very hard to hit our goal, and we appreciate any help you can give. In addition, we have added a canned food drive to our challenge. Please send canned goods to school with your child so that we can fill our box and do our part for the Spring Branch Food Bank!! FYI: The students will be running their 30-35 laps on Wednesday during Field Day.
Spring Parent Conferences
It has been a joy to meet with everyone thus far. If you haven't signed up for a time and would like to, please use the link below. If you find there isn't a time that will accommodate you, please let me know, and I will do what I can to fit your needs. If you feel that a conference is not needed at this time, that is okay too.

Spelling
A specific suffix (-y, -ily,-ly) is used when a word is used as an adjective or an adverb. Our study this week focused on how words changed when the part of speech changed. On Monday, students will receive instruction in silent letters and their patterns. The test will be next Wednesday, April 19.
Class Novel Study - Fish In A Tree
We are off to a great start with Fish In A Tree. Most of the students are loving in, and those that aren't will come along shortly. Last week the expectation was chapters 1-15. This week we will be focusing on chapters 16-29.

Now that the test writing genre monkey is off our backs, we are going to be focusing on research writing. This will be done using student chosen topics in the first person. If you have additional questions about this type of writing, please feel free to google I-Search.
