Cuernavaca Day - On Monday, October 12th, enjoy delicious food from Taqueria Cuernavaca, and 10% of the proceeds will go to DATA. Taqueria Cuernavaca is located at 1117 N Ventura Avenue and is open from 10:00 am- 8:00 pm.

PTSA's Art Contest - Calling all students! Hurry and get your dance/choreography, literature, photography, film production, music composition and visual arts submission into the front office; the deadline is October 16. Ms. Bandringa's, the DATA art teacher, will have watercolors and colored pencils available, in B-4, after school, on Tuesday and Thursday. Please let her know if you plan to come, so that she will have enough supplies. The awards presentation will be Thursday, October 29, at 6:30 pm, in the cafeteria. ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee) - DATA's first ELAC meeting of the year will be on Thursday, October 15th at 6:00 pm in B-2. We welcome all English Language Learners and their families to attend. ELAC advises the principal and staff on the development of the English Learner section of the school plan. Please direct any questions to Ms. Vega.
Box Top Competition - Every 1000 Box Tops earns our school $100! Please bring in Box Tops is Friday, October 16. Prizes awarded to the top three 1st period classes who collect the most box tops. The winning class will be announced the week we return from fall break.
Yearbook – Yearbooks are $35 from now until February 1. Layaway program starts at $5
LIBRARY NEWS
New Books - We put over 30 new books on the shelves, so come find a good read for fall break.
Netbook News
Netbook Storage Over Break - Don't forget that Netbooks DO NOT go home over fall break. Starting this Wednesday, we will store them in the student's last class of the day, and he or she will need to pick them up before school begins the following morning.
Netbook case straps - Decorating is still available during Thursday's lunch.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Ventura County Libraries - Avenue, Saticoy, and E.P. Foster Libraries are looking for students 12+ years to volunteer and earn community service. For information, please contact the branches directly.
DATA Tech Mentors - We are seeking 7th and 8th graders interested in helping other students with Netbooks. Stop by the Library for details.
