MATH PENTATHLON - DIVISION III

I am so very proud of all of our Division III Pentathlete's that represented MHG last Saturday at the National Math Pentathlon Tournament!

Our students worked hard this school year preparing for the big day and they did great! They woke up early, gave it their best, used good sportsmanship, and most importantly had fun playing each of the 5 games they learned this season.

Here are the results for our school:

Bronze Medal:

Olivia Thweny

Honorable Mention:

Grace VanBenschoten

Pentathlete Award:

Jules Brikho

Evan Snyder

Please recognize these students for being risk-takers, having a great attitude and for their time and commitment to math pentathlon. I am very proud of them all!!

I would like to say a special Thank You to Alex Bilan and Danny Sheehan. They were not able to attend tournament due to conflicts, but they came to class every Friday and supported their wildcat buddies.

THANK YOU MRS. TARA THWENY - The Guest Math Pentathlon Club would not be possible without your leadership and dedication. Our students and community are grateful for your hard work.

SECURITY SYSTEM FOR PRIME TIME & AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS

PRIME TIME: now has the same system to enter the building as the office. The building will be kept locked as much as possible during PTC hours. Ring the same bell you would during school hours, if no one answers, call 248-956-3399. There will be times when the doors will be open. For example, when the children go outside, or we have meetings, etc.

AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS: Staff members in charge of events will walk students to the entrance of the building to be released to families.

Thank you for supporting our efforts as we continue to make changes to help ensure safe and efficient procedures.

3rd GRADE COMPLETES MSTEP - 4th MOVING TO THEIR SECOND WEEK

Our 3rd grade students completed the statewide M-STEP (Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress) assessments.

The 4th grade testing window is May 9th-May 27th. For the most part, our students will test during the first two-weeks of their testing cycle while we will conduct make-up tests in the final week of their respective cycles. Please note, students in grades K-2 do not take the M-STEP.

CALLING ALL 2016-2017 KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS

INFORMATION:

Research indicates that developmentally appropriate full-day schedules benefit kindergarten children academically, socially and emotionally. Our principals and teachers understand this and are well equipped to meet the needs of our kindergarten students.

Our kindergarten students begin to learn a whole host of reading, writing and mathematics concepts and learning strategies that give them the foundation for a successful elementary school career in Walled Lake Schools.
