Facts About the Saxons
The Saxons were originally located in Europe but during the Dark Ages some of them moved to Great Britian. Traditions say the the Saxons settlet in Southern England and were named after a type of sword they used called the Seax. The part of Britain that the Anglo-Saxons took over was named England after them. It means Land of the Angles. The Saxons came from Northwest Germany. Other groups that settled in Britian can also be called Saxons. These were the Frisians, the Franks, and the Swabians.
