ESL English: End of a Unit
We are completing a curriculum unit on the novel, Seedfolks. Your children have been reading this book since November. It has been the focal point of a lot of discussion related to:
- Building communities
- Immigration in the U.S.
- Stereotypes and Assumptions
- Segregation
- Overlooking appearances and building relationships with peoples from other cultures
STUDENT DEADLINES FOR THIS WEEK:
- Student 5-paragraph Essays are Due on Thursday, Feb. 27 by midnight. They are working on these essays diligently in class.
- Students will have a multiple-choice exam on Friday, Feb. 28. They are permitted to use their translators for this exam, as it is covering content and not language.
- Students MUST turn-in any missing or uncompleted materials related to Seedfolks if they wish to receive credit by Friday, Feb. 28 in class.
New ESL English Unit: 'The Outsiders'
*Please be aware that this book is written in multiple languages and it may be beneficial for your child to have a copy in their home language. You can search online for those editions.
World Languages Test-Out Exam
- Your child can pass this exam and earn credit without taking the class at Novi High School.
- *THIS IS SOMETHING I HIGHLY RECOMMEND :-)
Exam is March 3, 2020 (NEXT WEEK) from 3:45-6:00 pm at Novi High School.
