Remote Learning at Jackson
Week 2: August 31-September 4, 2020
Dear Jackson Parents/Guardians,
Wow! What a week it has been! From the bottom of our hearts, the staff and I can't thank you enough for your patience. The beginning of the week was frustrating with all of the technology issues, but as they have continued to improve, your support has made the world of difference for your children and the staff.
Remote Learning
We have heard from many of you about the frustration with Remote Learning. This isn't what any of us planned for and hopefully we will be back together, in person, soon! Thankfully, the district is already discussing plans for us to work towards getting students back into the building, starting as early as late September.
In the meantime, please continue to ensure that you are all living a safe and healthy life. Any and all visitors on our campus, must wear a mask if near staff members, community members, or students (not in your family). Thank you for helping with this. The safer we are, the faster we will all be back together.
LAB Days begin this week...
This week, we will begin our LAB Days. Parents/guardians will receive an email this weekend to inform you of the date and time that your child will be attending. This is based on assessment data from testing last week and the end of last year. (If you have not had your child attend for Assessment Week, please contact your teacher as soon as possible to find a way, whether in person or virtually, to complete these assessments.)
LAB Day Schedules (see below for the Transportation schedule)
Tuesdays: 8:00-11:30 Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade
Thursdays: 8:00-11:30 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade
Thank you for your continued support and patience throughout the start of this school year. There are many unknowns and we know you are eager for answers. Please know we are getting them to you as soon as possible. Call the office at (719) 328-5800, your classroom teacher, or me (719) 328-5802, if you have any questions!
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Thank you,
Sara Miller

From the Library Corner
Last week we were able to give every student that came in for assessments, two books! A big thank you to Jackson's PTO for giving me the money to purchase books and to Sharon Thomas, who along with a teacher friend, gave us many books that were barely used. The kids had a hard time choosing between all the great options!
If your child was not able to come in last week for their assessments, just let me know the next time they will be in the building. I will make sure every student is given at least two books to keep at home.
I know we had some technology issues at the beginning of the week and I thank everyone for their patience. Hopefully those problems aren't as substantial, but as the sticker on your device states, you are welcome to contact me at rhonda.sobecki@d11.org or call the District Support Center at 719-520-2211.

Box Tops for Education
My name is Deb Tuxhorn and I am the Box Tops for Education Coordinator for Jackson Elementary. Box Tops for Education is a school fund-earning program that helps schools earn cash to buy things they need.
There are 2 ways to do this:
1) As you shop in your grocery stores, look for the logo on the boxes. They do not need to be clipped. Simply scan your receipt once you download the APP to your phone. Register Jackson Elementary to receive the points. We will earn 10 cents per item. You can also see the list of products and specials they are running.
2) Send in any clipped out Box Tops you may have saved over the summer with your student to their classroom. I will collect these from each classroom.
Thanks for supporting Jackson Elementary. Every Box Top helps!
