News You Can Use
November 16, 2021
This week Redding Elementary School will open its arms (and it's doors) to parents for Conference Week! This is a fantastic time to make the valuable connections to teachers and classrooms that we have missed for so long due to Covid. For many families, this is the first time in several years stepping foot inside our special building.
While we haven't been there physically, the space has been thriving and buzzing along daily with excited students and dedicated staff. If you are a parent who is attending an in-person Conference this week, we encourage you to take a moment to enjoy the sights of our school. Our Inclusion Team, along with visuals team lead, Maisie Todd Wallick, have done a phenomenal job bringing the diverse cultures and traditions of our RES families to a stunning dinner table where all are welcome (just outside the main office). Our wonderful art teacher, Mimi Weiss has displayed your children's artwork throughout the halls. Our Library Staff, led by Sarah Peronace, have a cheerful board welcoming students to the Library daily. The beautiful cafeteria, redesigned with funds from the RES PTA, provides a bright, fun spot for lunch. Ask your child what their favorite part of the building is!
RES is about the students. RES is about the hundreds of Educators, Support Staff, Administrators and Custodians that show up for our kids every day. RES is about so much more than just the building that houses their learning, and it sure feels nice to have the opportunity to safely open the building to families once again.
Thanks to everyone in our RES community for doing their part to keep each other safe.

What's For Dinner?
Hayley Meyer - Grade 3 Teacher
Hello! My name is Hayley Meyer and I am so excited to be part of this year's RES staff as a third grade teacher! I grew up in Wilton, CT but currently live in Milford with my parents and older sister. I graduated this May from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA with a degree in Early Childhood Education. This is my first year teaching and I'm excited to work with the kids.
3 Fun Facts About Me:
- I had the opportunity to do a “Maymester” study abroad in Tampere, Finland following my sophomore year of college. While abroad I got to take two classes of my own while also visiting several elementary schools in the country. I was also there when the Finnish hockey team won the World Championship!
- I enjoy working out. I especially love playing volleyball, spinning, and practicing yoga!
- My favorite place in the world is the beach. I spent many days at Walnut Beach reading this summer!
Why Did You Chose Teaching?
I chose to enter teaching because of the lasting impact my 3rd grade teacher had on me. As an 8 year old, I knew I wanted to grow up to be just like her and I’m happy that my childhood dream is coming true! I love to work with kids and see the growth students make. I enjoy knowing that I am involved in work that makes a difference.
