Harrison Park Weekly Update
May 31st, 2022
Tragic Events
On the week after another tragic school shooting, my deepest sympathies and condolences are with all those at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and everyone directly affected by this devastating tragedy. Please know, Harrison Park staff are committed to creating a safe school environment for our students and staff. School security and the safety of our students and staff is and has always been our most important job.
We encourage you to visit NASP to help support you and your children in processing such a tragic event.
Please let us know if you and/or your children need something specific.

PPS Mask Update
On Wednesday, May 11, Multnomah County health officials updated COVID-19 guidance given the current surge in cases. The Multnomah County Health Department now recommends that masks be worn indoors until coronavirus case counts and hospitalizations fall. The current increase in COVID-19 cases is expected to peak in mid-June near the end of the PPS’s school year.
In alignment with public health guidance, Portland Public Schools strongly recommends that all staff and all students wear masks at schools, in district office buildings and at other indoor events beginning Monday May 16th. This recommendation includes masking at important end-of-year events such as proms, school performances, assemblies and indoor graduation events.
Harrison Park Upgrade Project....Input needed
On Tuesday, May 31st from 6:00p.m. to 7:30 p.m. you are invited to a drop-in Open House style meeting at Harrison Park to meet the design team for the Harrison Park upgrade project.

Nurse and Non-Prescription and Prescription Medication
Non-Prescription and Prescription Medication
Oregon law requires that all medications administered at school, prescription as well as over-the-counter medications, be dispensed from an original prescription container and be accompanied by written consent from parent as well as written instructions from the physician. School personnel are not authorized to dispense any medication at school unless these requirements are met. All medication must be administered by the school nurse or trained school personnel only.
The required forms are available in the Nurse’s Office and only these forms are permitted. No medication will be administered until these completed forms are on file. These regulations are to protect everyone—the student, our staff and other students. Students should not bring medication to school with them. It should be brought to the nurse by the parent. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in student discipline.
We ask that you check into the office and our SHA will meet you outside, or in the office to go over paperwork etc.
