Positive Parent Contact

Thanks to a positive office referral this week, I was able to make a great call home. When I first called the dad and said who I was, I could almost feel the "what now?" vibe coming through the phone. This student has had a lot of issues with late and incomplete work and we have contacted home lots of times with concerns. The smile on the student's face and the feeling of pride and relief from the dad made for a great afternoon. Taking the time to call and make parents partners in their child's education is incredibly important and so much more powerful than an e-mail. Thank you for making those calls, but don't forget to fill their (and your) buckets too.

Professional Reading:

I'm only including 1 article this week, but I want everyone to read it if you haven't already seen Angela Duckworth's TED talk within, it is a great watch. Excellent information to inform your practice.
