ALL HANDS ON DECK
HS STAFF NEWS | SEPTEMBER 6, 2019
We very much appreciate your time and dedication as our Improvement Teams get off the ground for the school year! Your discussions about our Instructional Framework and opportunities for growth, your creation of team mission statements, and your willingness to trust in the process is excellent forward momentum for us. Focusing on your team’s mission statement will help guide how your team navigates future collaboration time together.
Please remember that your time will be focused on what you as a team determine based on the Secondary Framework focus area that you chose. This time is for you and your colleagues to grow together as instructional practitioners while celebrating student gains and holding each other accountable.
Remember that your group will need to determine a member to serve as a future facilitator for your collaborative team times. All team members will communicate with the group facilitator to identify the needs and wants of the group. Once we establish our foundation over the next weeks, that entire period each week will be rooted in student-learning and growing ourselves as practitioners.
During PLC weeks, our cross-curricular teams will not be meeting. The following Tuesday or Thursday collaboration schedule, as a result, can be marked into our calendars.
Upcoming First Semester Dates:
September 17th and 19th
October 1st and 3rd
October 15th and 17th
November 12th and 14th
November 19th and 21st
December 3rd and 5th
December 17th and 19th
LEARNING LAB SCHEDULE
Location: Paxton Conference Room
Processes for Learning Lab:
Check-In will be with Suzanne Frame in Paxton. Students sent to the Learning Lab need to go directly to the Paxton Welcome Center to sign in. The supervisor will be contacted to join the student(s) in the lab.
When students need to make up a test or assignment, the classroom teacher must complete the Learning Lab Google Form (located on our PCHS Dashboard) ahead of time. That way we can have the supervisor waiting for the student to ensure they get as much time as needed.
When students are sent without prior notification on the Learning Lab Google form, the classroom teacher must complete this form right away so that the supervisor knows what the student needs to be working on and/or the reason the student is being sent to the lab.
Students who are highly agitated, struggling with emotional/social issues, or appear to be very upset are to be sent to the main office. We will determine what the needs of that student are and help them from there. Always either accompany a student under these circumstances and/or call the office for assistance.
