Wake County is located in the Piedmont Region of North Carolina. It is in the northeastern central region where Piedmont and Coastal Plains meet. Bordering counties are Nash County and Chatham County.

How was Wake County founded?
Wake County was founded on June 4, 1771. Then was made from parts of Johnston, Orange and Cumberland Counties. Then was named after Margarete Wake the wife of the colonial governor.
