BCS 2Hour Early Dismissal TODAY
Sept. 1: BCS Dismiss TODAY 2 Hours Early. PreK @ 12 noon.
Due to the latest updates from the National Weather Service and opportunities for flash flooding in some areas of our county, all Berkeley County Schools will dismiss two (2) hours early today, Wednesday, September 1, 2021. PreK will dismiss at 12 noon. All after-school and evening activities are canceled.
Special thanks to our staff who are moving quickly to provide school lunches, answer parent phone calls, provide instruction in an abbreviated schedule, and to our drivers who will adjust transportation schedules to deliver your student home safely on a 2-hour early schedule. (Example: If your student typically arrives home at 3 pm, look for your student to arrive around 1 pm.) Please note that should a roadway be affected by standing water, adjustments to the delivery of your student may be communicated by the Transportation Department.
We will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the day as well as flashing flooding that could continue throughout the night.
Working with our local safety and highway partners, we will provide an update to you regarding the school status for tomorrow, Thursday, September 2, 2021.
This decision for Thursday may not be announced until early Thursday morning no later than 5:30 am. Please arrange for and discuss your family plan should we need to delay the opening of school on Thursday.
Thank you for your support as we continue to focus on providing academic, nutritional, and social-emotional supports for our students, families and staff. Your cooperation is sincerely valued and appreciated.
Stay safe. Be well.
