Hallinan Elementary

Principal's Message
It's June! There are only 9 school days left, which is difficult for me to believe. It's been quite a year. Despite everything thrown at us since September, your children have adapted and shown great resilience and flexibility. We are so proud of them and want to celebrate the 'Hallinan way" with a Spirit Week next week! Here's the plan:
- Monday, June 7: Hallinan Day
- Tuesday, June 8: Imaginative Day
- Wednesday, June 9: Hat Day
- Thursday, June 10: Team Day
- Friday, June 11: Aloha Day
- See the description box below "Save These Dates" for details.
As one would expect, we've got some busy days ahead of us. Tuesday, June 15 will be our last day of in-person learning. Wednesday, June 16 is the last day of school. K-4 students will join their teachers zoom classes at their regular Wednesday scheduled times. AM Cohort meets from 8 - 9:05 am, and PM Cohort meets from 12:45 to 1:50 pm. There will be no PE, Music or STEM lessons on June 16. 5th Graders will have a slightly different schedule which is outlined below the Spirit Week section. I'm so excited to celebrate our 5th Graders - they have been rock stars throughout their elementary journey, especially this year!
As you've likely heard, students may keep their school issued devices this summer if they will be back at Hallinan (or another LOSD school) next year. If your child will not return to an LOSD school in the fall, please return their device, headphones, ELA book, library books and any manipulatives to Hallinan on June 16 from 12:30 to 3:30 or 17 or 18 between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm in the vestibule.
It's going to be an exciting, busy next couple of weeks, but there's no place I'd rather be. There's no place like Hallinan!
Melissa Griffiths

Spring i-Ready Assessment
Dear Families,
Our Spring i-Ready diagnostic assessment will take place during the first two weeks in June. Similar to fall and winter, students will be testing in the areas of math and reading. As a reminder, the goal of i-Ready is to help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready also provides data to inform and tailor instruction. This is the third and final i-Ready assessment for this school year, and results will be sent home by Friday, June 18.
Hybrid students will take the assessments in person, and LO online students will be given time to complete the assessments at home. If hybrid students need more time to finish, they will have time to complete the assessments. If LO online students need more time, they will need to complete the assessments independently from home by June 11. Students who finish early will be offered asynchronous activities. Given that students completed the assessments in the fall and winter, they should be comfortable navigating the platform.
Students who receive accommodations via a 504 or IEP will receive additional communication from their learning specialist and/or counselor. All of the accessibility tools are outlined in detail on this document.
The purpose of the i-Ready assessment is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning. We appreciate your partnership in supporting and encouraging your student(s) to do their best.
Please contact your child’s teacher or Learning Specialist/Counselor if you have any questions.
Please Verify Your Student's Information
- Ensuring that schools have accurate information to reach parents and other contacts in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Verification is important even if your address or contact information has not changed over the past year because the school may have incorrect information from a previous year.
- Confirming parent email addresses for Google Classroom and other applications to participate in your student's learning.
- Enabling distribution of key information in the district's K-12 Family Handbook and Technology Agreement.
