Dear Hill-Roberts Families,

This week, we kicked off our STMath competition known as March Mathness! We also began our March Madness competition using AR quizzes! We ALSO celebrated HRES Kindness Week! As part of Kindness Week, we welcomed Chris Poulos to our building. Chris is a famous BMX Stunt Rider who reminds students how important it is to be kind. In the assembly this week, he shared messages of perseverence and kindness with the Hill Roberts Crowd. He taught us all the Platinum Rule: treat others BETTER than you want to be treated! My favorite story he shared was about how he came to perform at NBA half-time shows. He practices his craft at a basketball court near his home in Providence. A man walking by asked him about his tricks and instead of ignoring the passerby, he stopped what he was doing and answered questions about BMX. They talked for a while and the man finally shared that he is responsible for booking the Celtics half-time entertainment! Needless to say, word spread and he's performed at MANY sporting venues...and it all started by being kind.

Title I Event

We are so excited to invite ALL Grade 2 and 3 students to a spring event- Family Game Night. This event will be held on Thursday March 23rd from 6:00- 7:30 pm here in our HRES cafeteria/auditorium. Mrs. Morrison and Ms. Nager visited all of our grade 2 and 3 classrooms today to personally invite the students and their families. Every child attending will get to take home a book and enjoy a snack that is being provided by our PTO. We hope that families can drop in and spend some time playing together. The invitation is due back by March 16th. Please return it as soon as you can and we can't wait to see you there!

The spring book fair was a success! We earned more than 5,000 Scholastic Dollars for books for the school. Thank you so much to everyone who volunteered, including Christine Taylor, who made the awesome “Husky-mobile” photo prop.
