PHS Staff Update

June 1, 2015

We are here! Two more days of class, three days of finals, and Graduation! And with the news of a tentative agreement in place with PFT and the district, it seems we are finishing the year in a good place.

Thank you to everyone across the campus for all the amazing work this year. There are hundreds of students and parents who truly appreciate all the great things you do. We will keep in touch via email through the summer and update you as we go. Read on!

Campus Clean up! Thank you everyone!

Saturday morning, more than 100 students and staff roamed the campus, raking, sweeping, clipping, and generally sprucing up PHS. As you walk around this week, we hope you'll see the campus looking better. A goal for next year is to keep ongoing maintenance more frequent so that our campus looks bright and welcoming. Thank you to Debi for leading the charge and all the students and staff who supported. ASB class was there en masse.

Special thanks to Victor Brazil and family, Elizabeth Schleth with her mom who cleared the garden next to the custodian closet and planted new plants in the front garden, Deb Fitch who weedwhacked and worked on the pots out front, Vicki McCormick who worked around Troy's and the garden in front of the D wing, spreading 6 bags of mulch, Jackie Stavish who led the crew working on the Rose Garden, Jon Tallent who led the work crew that cleaned the entire stadium and Webster and Hayes, and Rob Figone who drove the cart and disposed of all the trash and greens we collected. What a team!

Softball and Baseball Bow Out; Scranton and Gilmore to State!

Both baseball and softball seasons came to an end, but both teams can be proud of very good years! The baseball Trojans came up a run short versus Arroyo in a game which easily could have gone the other way. The softball Trojans traveled to #1 seed Livermore and behind Emily O'Keefe, limited them to 2 runs. But the Livermore pitcher was on her game, keeping our girls off the bases. Still, a 2-0 loss to the #1 seed is nothing to frown about. Excellent seasons for Paul and Kurt and all those who help out with baseball and softball.

We are sending two athletes off to the State Track Meet! Allison Scranton finished second in the discus and Natalie Gilmore third in the pole vault to qualify. This is a huge honor and achievement for both girls. Congrats to Coach Doug Johnson and the entire track and field team for a great season.
