Network Topologies (Bus,Ring,Star)
By Abbie Farley
Bus Topology.
Advantages and Disadvantages:
1. a terminator is attached at the end of each.
2. easy to install.
3. main cable could fail all networks
4. every workstation on the network "sees" all of the data on the network – this is a security risk
Star Topology.
Advantages and Disadvantages:
1. very reliable
2. high performing
3. expensive
4. extra hardware required
Ring Topology.
Advantages and Disadvantages:
1. transfer data quickly
2. wont be any data collisions.
3. main cable might fail
4. device could be faulty
Why are these good?
The bus network is good to use as it is a simple way of transferring data. The star network is good because even if one of the computers loose connection, they still work. The ring network is also good to use because it is fast and simple to send data.
