In Case You Missed It:
A huge thank you to Miranda Colwell and Katherine Fanning for taking on the responsibility for the instruction for the students in Mrs. Gomez's math classes. They have agreed to teaching every other day (A/B schedule), using the media center as the classroom. Vincent Pienaar also agreed to be pulled whenever he is needed to assist with this instruction. They also reached out to all the other math teachers in the building which have agreed to come by during their planning to lend a hand and answer questions wherever needed. This is truly the epitome of teamwork and doing "whatever it takes" to ensure all our children are successful.
I also want to thank DJ Clemons for helping last week with the student requiring a one-on-one assistant when Mrs. Zimmer left. I am happy to report that we have already secured Todd Murray to begin in this position on Monday morning. This means that DJ will be back at SLMS full time! This was yet another example of that "whatever it takes" mentality at SanLee!
Thank you to Brian and Karen Caldwell for watching all the students on the Thursday afternoon route of 21 when the bus was broken down. Jamie had and IEP meeting and Evan had to do test training and the Caldwells jumped into help where they were needed. It takes a village and I'm so glad to be apart of the Stallion Village!
Congratulations to Andrew Carnegie, most recent addition to our custodians, on his recent marriage!
Administration met with Gail Smith last week to go over the spreadsheets 6th and 7th grade teachers will fill out on all students to determine eligibility for advanced classes. We began this last year and have since been updated and revised to hopefully make it easier to complete. We will discuss this in Leadership Team this week and again in reading and math PLC's at each grade level on Tuesday.
I'm pleased to announce that Andrew Orellana will be joining our Stallion Family on the custodian team. He is currently at Broadway Elementary as a custodian and comes highly recommended. I do not have an official start date, but believe it will be next week.
Alex Rivera will be joining us in August as our part-time office support person. She has expereince working in a front office at a middle school and is also bilingual which will benefit our school greatly!
We still need proctors! Ask your children if they have a parent or grandparent that may be available, then call. It is a lot harder for people to say no on the phone than it is to scroll through a newsfeed and disregard or ignore a text message.
