Meet The Teacher

I graduated from the University of Houston and received certification in Early Childhood through 6th grade. I have had a passion for teaching since I was a freshman in high school and I truly love working with children. I am someone who is dedicated to making sure the school year will be filled with fun and quality learning. Making sure every single student is on track for the STAAR test is my top priority. I am looking forward to this school year.

This Week In Class

This week in class we are learning about weather. There is an educational game your child is able to play in the comfort of your own home. It is called “The Weather Machine,” the link is: http://www.edheads.org/activities/weather/. Your child is able to be a weatherman/woman and is learning how to predict weather and learning different weather types. The game gives the child a certain direction such as “Cleveland has a cold front” and they are able to drag a “cold front” icon over the correct city, which in this case would be Cleveland. We will be learning about different weather types in class so this will help them remain familiar while at home. The students will enjoy feeling like they are really working for the weather channel, while also learning about their environment.

Upcoming Field Trip

This is just a reminder of our field trip next week, Tuesday, November 3rd. We will be going to the Houston Zoo. Students are required to bring their own lunch for the day to have a picnic at Hermann Park. I still have spots available for any parent interested in being a chaperone for your child and a small group of students. Please contact me at my information listed at the bottom of the newsletter if you are interested.

Fall Festival

Yay! It's that time of year again. Our 10th annual Fall Festival is this Saturday on Halloween. There will be a costume contest for the children with awesome prizes, so please have them come in their best Halloween costume. There will be many activities such as inflatables, carnival games, face painting, concession stands, etc. Our class is in charge of the Cake Walk. If possible, please send your child with some sort of cake or dessert on Friday to be used as a prize in the cake walk. I look forward to seeing you there.
