DROPPING OFF KIDS
Please drop off your kids by the lower area stop sign in the upper lot. For the safety of all of our students, please remain in the line of cars and let children out of the right side of the car onto the sidewalk. If you are dropping by upper entrance please stay in line of cars, have your child get out on the sidewalk side, and do no pull any further ahead than the last sign before the entrance (there needs to be enough room for our upper buses and school vehicles to pull in right by entrance). If you park in the lot, please walk your children across the driveway to the sidewalk. Students should not be walking from the parking lot through the crosswalk unaccompanied.
Please do not drop off before 8:10 AM. Thank you!

Nurse Notes by Nurse Andrea
The clothing supply in the Nurse’s office at Jackson is incredibly lucky to have such giving families! When a child has an accident or spills on their clothes at school, we always have clean clothing that they can change into. But, our supply is running low and the Nurse’s office is in need of some clothing!
If you have any of the following items, and they are clean, new or gently used – please donate them to Jackson!
Sweatpants (size 6-9, boys and girls) – we don’t take jeans because sweatpants fit more students.
Thank you for helping!!

Physical Education Fun with Mr. Casey, Mrs. Tanberg, and Mrs. Voigt
It is a busy time of year in Physical Education for Jackson Elementary students. With spring upon us, we are finishing our units, getting ready for fitness testing and preparing for our Track & Field Days.
Students have just completed their Tumbling unit where they have learned: how to do front rolls., back rolls, cartwheels, and other stunts, Along with that students were busy with their dance unit, cup stacking unit, and jump rope units. These are all fun and popular units and great exercise for all of our students.
With spring approaching, fitness test will be coming up. Help your child prepare by practicing one of the four tests: push-ups, curl-ups, sit & reach, and the mile run. Remember being active and working on each individual fitness component will help increase their strength and endurance.
Please check out our web site for additional information. We also are in need of parents to work the ribbon table. Please contact the Physical Education Teachers if you would like to volunteer some time.
Below are this year’s Track & Field event dates:
Monday, May 13th - 1st Grade
Tuesday, May 14th - 2nd Grade
Wednesday, May 15th - 3rd Grade
Thursday, May 16th - 4th Grade
Friday, May 17th - 5th Grade
Look for information being sent out on our “National Bike/Walk to School Day” taking place May 8th before school starts. We are always looking for volunteers to help with this event before (most need) and after school. If this is something you can help out with, let us know.
As always, you are always welcome in our classroom.

If anyone has some old tennis shoes that they would like to donate to the Physical Education Department it be greatly appreciated. We have students who do not have tennis shoes to wear for physical education and we would like to give them a pair. Please make sure the tennis shoes are clean and free of rips and tears.
Greetings from the Learning Commons!
Greetings from Media!
During the past few months students have been learning many different things in addition to finding good books to read in the Learning Commons. All of the classes have been learning about being good digital citizens through the Common Sense Media curriculum.
Fifth graders (with the exception of 5A) have completed the digital citizenship unit on cyberbullying and have begun a unit on how to create proper citations and bibliographies when conducting research. I introduced them to a website called Formatically. It is a free and easy way for students to cite online resources. If you’d like to read more about the curriculum we are using, you may do so by clicking here.
Fourth graders (with the exception of 4A) have completed the digital citizenship unit on cyberbullying and have begun a unit on maintaining privacy when going online. If you’d like to read more about the curriculum we are using, you can do so by going to clicking here.
Third graders have been learning about the differences between personal information and private information and protecting your identity when going online. They have begun a unit on how to show respect when we go online. You can learn more about what they are learning by clicking here.
Second graders have finished up a unit on staying safe when they go online. Here is a link to that curriculum if you’d like to learn more. We are just starting a compare/contrast activity in Book Creator around the book “One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish” in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday month.
First graders have completed the unit called Keep It Private after finishing up some coding projects. They are just beginning a Book Creator project called Build a Snowman. They are learning to copy, cut, and paste objects and create text boxes in the app.
Kindergarteners completed the unit Going Places Safely and have now begun a project in the Book Creator app called Build a Snowman. They are learning how to copy, cut, and paste objects as well as create text boxes.
