A Note from the Principal

Dear SPB Families,

It's hard to believe that our first quarter has drawn to a close. What a wonderful start to the year it has been! In reviewing report cards as well as MAP scores, I have been impressed by the high achievement of our students and the hard work and effort behind them. I encourage our students to continue on this path. Thank you to our teachers for engaging our students in the learning process and helping them to grow academically and spiritually. I also want to thank our parents for working in concert with us to ensure that our students are learning and growing.

First quarter report cards have been published as of today. You have the ability to print a report card to keep for yourself. Directions for accessing report cards can be found inside your child’s report card envelope as well as below. Please note that there are two pages to the report cards. You don't want to miss the second page which includes teacher comments. Please sign the report card envelope and return to your child's teacher tomorrow. We will send a hard copy of report cards at the end of the school year only. Remember that parent-teacher conferences take place next week, and our teachers are eager to meet with you.

You may access your child’s final grades for the quarter on Gradelink following these directions:

1. Log into Gradelink.

2. Click on the Grades tab on the left hand side.

3. The option to download the report card will appear on the right side of the screen. You

can then download it to view or print.

Happy Halloween!

Babysitting during Parent-Teacher conferences

We will offer babysitting for toddlers through students in grade 3 during Parent-Teacher Conferences on both Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 3:15-7:15 P.M. Two or three junior high students will be available in the Jansky Learning Center to watch your children while you conference with teachers. Thank you to the junior high students who have volunteered to serve as the babysitters on those evenings!

Veterans Day

CELEBRATING OUR VETERANS: The First Grade cordially invites Veterans and their spouses to celebrate Mass on Monday, November 11 at 9:00 a.m. (This is not a school Mass). Following Mass, we hope you would join us in the Parish Life Center for a light breakfast in appreciation for your service. Please RSVP as soon as possible to the school office by calling 440-442-6766 or emailing office@saintpaschal.com.

Holiday Craft Show-Saturday, Nov. 23

Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for our Annual Holiday Craft Show benefiting the Blessed Sacrament Ladies Guild on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This is the largest fundraiser for the Guild and is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season. There will be over 150 craft tables so you'll be sure to find unique gifts for yourself or for that special someone on your holiday shopping list. Please consider volunteering some of your time to help make the day a success. Volunteers also get free admission to the show! Please contact Beth Juelich-Velotta at bethjuelich@yahoo.com with any questions. The following link will take you to our sign up page on SignUpGenius.com

Autumn and Winter Weather

With much cooler temperatures upon us, please keep in mind that our school policy is that all students are to participate in outside recess if the temperature is above 20 degrees (with wind chill) and the black top conditions are safe. Snow-covered black top, for example, is safe. Ice-covered is not. PLEASE send your child, no matter what grade level, with boots, a hat, gloves, and a warm coat every day this autumn and winter. We will go outside for a 20 minute recess whenever it is possible.

School Closings Due to Weather

Just a reminder that when Mayfield City School District closes school in the event of severe weather conditions, we are also closed. We will also be using our Gradelink communication system to send email, text, and voice mail messages in case of school closures. If the school district you live in is closed but Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic School remains open, transportation will NOT be provided for your child. When school is closed due to an emergency, all school related activities are also cancelled.

2019 Walk-a-Thon T-shirt Dress Down Days

The 2019 Walk-a-Thon T-shirt Dress Down Days have been added to the school calendar. They are:

  • Tuesday, November 12
  • Wednesday, December 11
  • Thursday, January 16
  • Monday, February 24
  • Friday, March 13
  • Tuesday, April 21
  • Thursday, May 21

If your child has the 2019 Walk-a-Thon t-shirt they may wear the shirt with appropriate dress down clothes. If they do not have the 2019 shirt, they are to wear their regular uniform (gym uniform or dress uniform) on these days. Thank you.

Playground/Lunchroom Volunteer Sign Ups

The links for November for Grade 6, and December for Grade 5 can be found below. With the holiday season just ahead, we know that you will want to get the dates that work for your busy schedule!

We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:00-1:00. We are so grateful for the help!

This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Lunch/Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:00 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting students to the cafeteria from recess, and supervising in the cafeteria. Volunteers will be with one teacher and two "core" volunteers each day to help direct. Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.

Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the grade level link to pick a time convenient for you: Grade 6, Grade 5.

We are grateful to the following Grade 7 moms, dads, and grandparents who volunteered during the month of October: Mrs. Jaime Mance, Mrs. Mary Ellen Moore, Mr. Tom Dereska, Mr. Tunde Olowu, Mrs. Natalie de Caris, Mr. Joseph Phillips, Mr. Mario de Caris, Mrs. Jessica Dicus, Mrs. Wendy Trivisonno, Mr. Lou Trivisonno, Ms. Kimberley Munn, Mrs. Denise Coreno, Mrs. Lauren Meek, Mr. Fred Mance, Mrs. Kathy Andru, Mr. Scott Anthony, Dr. Paul Lipold, Mrs. Amy Bell, Mrs. Beth Detzel, Mrs. Jackie Titas, Mrs. Angelita Olowu, Mrs. Kimmie Yormick, and Mrs. Iryna Yarovitskiy.
