Balclutha Primary School - T4 Wk 6
Newsletter 26 November 2021
Principal's Report
The end of the year is fast approaching and we have organised a range of end of year activities to help our students celebrate the busy, if unconventional year we have had.
Here is a brief summary of what we have coming up. More information will go home prior to each of these events.
Tuesday 30 November- Librarians lunch
The librarians will get to celebrate their work in the library this year with lunch in the park. This is supplied by the school.
Wednesday 1 December- Room 11 Market Day
The Room 11 students will be holding a Market Day to sell goods they have been preparing as part of their genius hour projects. More information has gone out to classes about this.
Wednesday 8th December- House Groups sports day
The school council are organising a sports afternoon with a range of fun activities in house groups. Students may wear house colour mufti if they wish. Please contact the class teacher if you don't know what colour house your child is in.
Thursday 9th December- Teddy Bears picnic
The students in Rooms 1, 2 ,3 and 4 will have a Teddy Bear's picnic. They can bring their favourite Teddy and a picnic lunch.
Friday 10th December- Year 8 Day Out
Mrs Willocks and the Year 8 students will be having a fun day out. Plans for this are still being confirmed.
Monday 13th- Year 8 graduation
We will be holding our graduation ceremony to celebrate the many achievements of our Year 8 leavers.
Tuesday 14th December- Farewell assembly and school prize giving
We will hold our final assembly from 11:30 on Tuesday morning. We will be farewelling our Year 8 students, celebrating the success of our students across the school, having our golden ticket super draw and announcing the winners of our Whānau and School Christmas raffle.
School finishes 12:30 pm, Tuesday 14 December.
We have a jam packed couple of weeks. We are still waiting for the traffic light health and safety protocols for schools to be released. This will enable us to firm up plans for any events after December 3 when we move into the new framework. We are really hoping that our parents can be involved in our end of year celebrations, but we don't know what this will look like until our guidelines come out. We really appreciate your patience and understanding with this.
Ngā mihi nui,
Vicki Neave

Whanau and School Update
Last night we had our last meeting for the year and what a great turnout! Thank you to everyone who came, what a great school community we have and we are all looking forward to what 2022 has planned for us.
Christmas Raffle
Thank you to everyone who has already dropped off their items this week, if you haven't yet, please send them in early next week.
We will need all the raffle cards returned, sold or unsold before our draw on 14 December. If you are not able to sell yours, please send them back asap as we have some families who would like more to sell. (If you would like another raffle or two, to sell, please let the school know.)
Next week (week 2) we are asking each family to bring a Christmas item to go towards the raffle. (Below is a reminder of the items we requested for this week, i.e. week 1.)
If any one has any old BPS tartan culottes (that could be cut up), could you please drop them into the School office.
Have a great weekend and keep safe.
