Dear Maine Lion Families~
Thank you to all of the families that attended our first night of Student Success Conferences! The partnership between our families and our classrooms is so very important to us! It was fun to see all of the excitement! For those of you signed up for next Wednesday, October, 26th, we look forward to continuing the great conversations! We really appreciate the time you are taking to come to your child's conference! Thank you!
- Wednesday, October 26th from 12:00-7:30 pm
We have a couple of exciting PTO events coming soon! On Tuesday, October 25th, the PTO will host Trunk or Treat from 4:30-6:30pm on the playground and in the School Forest! On Saturday, November 5th, the PTO will be hosting their 60th Annual Chili Supper! How amazing is that! We hope you are all able to join us for these events! Thank you, Maine Lions PTO, for all of the work and planning you have done to create such fun family events at Maine Elementary! We appreciate you!
Your partner in education,

October Leader in Me Focus - Habit 1 - Be Proactive
- Habit Number 1 is Be Proactive. That means that YOU are in charge of your own choices and decisions. Don’t forget to Stop, Think, and Make Proactive Choices throughout the day.
- Being Proactive means that we have Choice. What kind of choices do you want to make throughout the day? You can choose to be proactive or reactive.
- Being Proactive means that you are being held accountable for your actions. Since you are in charge of your own choices, you need to be a leader and admit when you make a mistake.
- Being Proactive means that you need to take the initiative. Don’t wait for someone else to tell you what to do. Be a leader and take charge to start things on your own.
- Being Proactive means that you can be resourceful. Nobody expects you to have all the answers. Take the time to ask for help to find solutions with different tools and strategies.
- Being Proactive means that it is your responsibility to be a leader. You have control over your choices and it is your responsibility to make the proactive choice.
Leadership Buddies - Habit 1 - Unlocking the Magic
Habits at Home - Habit 1 - Be Proactive
- List ideas of things you can do when you are bored. Keep the list in a visible spot and add to it as you have new ideas.
- Try laying out your clothes each night before you go to bed. At the end of the week, reflect on this question: Did this help your week go more smoothly?
- Think about the last time you got mad or upset and said something unkind. Share an idea for a more proactive response.
